TracyFTracy's 524 Home Page Do Artifacts Have Politics? I understand the question to mean - do objects have inherent meaning? Can an object by itself be rhetorical? I would say yes, although some objects are more overtly political than others. Objects are designed and created by people to serve a specific purpose. That purpose has a meaning to the person creating it, and that meaning is passed along to the artifact. The shape of an object can effect how people view it and utilize it.
