My page. Woot. Once again I've got pagey paginated paginess. Time for another semester of fun times. I'm such a dork, I've already got navigation table action going on.

What does editing mean to me?
Editing, to me, means doing two things. Firstly, finding and changing major problems with the writing itself. That is, larger issues such as "is this doing what it needs to do?" Second, editing is proofreading for grammar, spelling and style.

What experience do I have with it? I have no professional experience with editing. I've done some editing (in both sentences) with classmates of mine, as well as with my girlfriend who I am writing collaboratively with. I have also seen a lot of editing on my own work, again in class and from my girlfriend as well.

What then does Technical Editing mean? How will it be different? Technical Editing is, I think, rhetorical editing. It is editing a document first on whether or not it does what it needs to do, and also if it does that in such a way that will be effective, and lastly working on surface errors.

Areas of my own knowledge:

  • Computers
  • Fantasy and Science Fiction literature
  • Televisions (I'm a salesman, ugh)
  • Pen and Paper, role-playing and video games
