AdamWDilbert What does editing mean to me? Editing is a procedure that is done after the writing is completed. A person who has an eye for clarity and understanding on how to correct writings and sentence structure looks over the content and check for errors. I feel, the person who is the "expert" in the editing of documents learns this skill by being writers themselves. These ex-writers or current writers learn the style from different style books and apply it to the documents they are to interet. What experience do I have with it? What it means to be a technical editor? At first thought, I felt that being a technical editor was different from other types of editing. I thought technical editing requires knowing how to place complex information in a manner that would allow the reader the opportunity to better understand information of complex documents. After reading the article What is Technical editing, I now understand the different types of editing and what a technical editor does during the course of their career. Being able to read and respond objectivly is a major requirment to be a technical editor. How would technical editing be different from what I currently understand about editing? |
