What is writing? Writing is the act of conveying thoughts or ideas into a format that is understandable to the reader given the structure of the writing itself. What is technical writing? Technical writing is writing done for the sake of others in order to give information regarding the subject to which the writing is attached. This can be done to give directions to perform a certain task, to warn others against potential hazards, or, for the most part, give information regarding things that the user may not be familiar with. Technical writing is done to a specific audience, such as users of a particular machine, or those who are following the directions given to perform a certain task. The writing itself must be precise enough that someone who would read the material would be able to understand it without having much of a problem. |
