1stChunkMemorandum To: Professor Benninghoff Chunk: The information as a tool for Mickey. The purpose of the forklift memo is to provide Mickey with information about different forklifts so that he can make a recommendation as to which forklift is the best option. Because Mickey must use the information during a meeting, the design of the memo and the presentation of the information must be easy for Mickey to use. He must be able to use the memo as a tool to build a case in favor of a certain forklift and to build a case against the other forklift option. In my first draft, I made a bulleted list of the information. The information was in different sections for each forklift, which did not provide for very easy comparison between forklifts. (See Version A) I changed (WHY WHY WHY did I change it? What provoked me to think it needed changing?) the design of my memo so that the forklift's information is listed in vertical columns right beside each other. (See Version C) This allows for quick comparison of the same aspect of both forklifts. Instead of having to scroll (Talk about why scrolling is bad and why I think that) from one set of information to the next, the information for all of the forklifts is visible at the same time. Mickey can quickly scan the memo and compare, for example, the repair costs or color options for each forklift. He will look better prepared for the meeting because the memo works for him. He does not have to hunt for the information he wants, because the information is now designed and grouped for quick and easy use. |
