This memo is in response to your request that I briefly state my current situation, give details about my chosen company, and give a summary of my workforce experience.
Where am I?
I am currently a sophomore at Eastern Michigan University with a part-time job as a waitress at a local restaurant. I am a Language, Literature, and Writing major, with a Writing minor. I chose to apply at Food Team Inc because I need a flexible job during the spring and summer semester. If I work at Food Team, I am able to request certain events, which will allow me to work events at my convenience. Also, this particular chain is located in Detroit, a city in which I have yet to explore or meet people.
Food Team Inc: What am I getting myself into?
After scouring the company's website, the ad on hotjobs.yahoo.com, and the employee handbook, I found that Food Team Inc. is looking for motivated food service workers, who are polite, flexible, and willing to give personalized service to each customer. They are looking for someone who has skills in the field, with at least one year prior experience and the ability to carry 10-12 covered plates on a large banquet oval. The company also wants an employee who takes the initiative to contact the HR representative and set up his/her own gigs and schedule. Food Team also wants an employee who is extremely prompt, being at least 15 minutes early for each event, and who is physically presentable (i.e. well-groomed, without piercings, and hair and makeup natural and managed).
What Do I Have to Offer?
I have extensive experience in the restaurant business, including being an employee for an event catering service. I am capable of waiting on multiple tables at one time, busing up to 400 guests' place settings, slice special-event cakes, and successfully balance a banquet oval. Most importantly, I have experience in signing up for specific events and managing my own schedule. That being said, I am confident that I meet all of the requirements that Food Team Inc. has of its employees, and that my determination and positive attitude would prove beneficial for the company.
