I am a junior transfer student from Henry Ford Community College, and this is my first semester at EMU. Now 29 years old, I am pursuing a degree in Journalism, a goal I deserted around eight years ago when the opportunity to work for Ford Motor Company arose. "Check your brain in at the door, and don't forget it on the way out." This basically sums up the attitude from most people who work the monotonous jobs on the assembly line. The pay is good, the people are great, but repeating the same task every 50 seconds or so is not very mentally stimulating. With the inspiration of my friends, and mostly my wife Jennifer, I was encouraged to return to school and at least attempt to finish what I began eight years ago. Spending my work days praying for minutes to disappear from the clock is no way earn a living. And living a life regretting what may of been is no way to live life. I enjoy most sports. I made the unfortunate decision to pick up golf this summer. Golf is one sport that looks easier than it actually is. I prefer to stick with what I am most comfortable with such as basketball, baseball, and beach volleyball. I plan to play my 7th year on an UAW basketball team this Fall. |
